Dear Friends,
I begin with this little verse:
“O suns and skies and clouds of June, And flowers of June together, Ye cannot rival for one hour October’s bright blue weather”
— Helen Hunt Jackson, Poems
October is here and we welcome the heart of fall! It gives us a cozy energy that makes us want to savor every moment of the colorful foliage and crisp, clear skies! It’s a month of apple cider, pumpkin patches, and the comforting embrace of oversized sweaters. Enjoy my friends, before the colder weather and the hectic holidays are upon us!
Lots of good things happening this Fall. Two of our Board members and I attended the 43 rd Biennial convention of the National Federation of Republican Women in Orlando at the end of September. We were treated to some excellent speakers including Tulsi Gabbard, Ron DeSantis and his wife Casey, Byron Donalds, Steve Green, President of Hobby Lobby, Jacob Wells, the co-founder of GiveSendGO, and the dynamic Lorenzo Sewell, who delivered the Benediction at President Trump’s 2025 Inauguration and many more. One highlight was when we were again awarded the Club Achievement Award, we received the Diamond Award, the highest Award in this category that is given by NFRW. It is given to clubs that demonstrate excellence in membership development, campaign activities, programs, community relations, leadership development and club functions. Thanks to every member for doing your part in making our club a success and a special Thank You to Raye Simpson, who documents all our activities and reports them to both MFRW and NFRW. What a job she does!
Three important things happening at the October Luncheon, we will be electing officers for 2026-2027, approving our budget, and hearing some impressive results from the Fashion Show. Hope to see many of you at Worcester Tech for our October meeting. Please check the News Update attached for more information on the slate of officers and the 2026 Budget.
October 24 and 25 th brings the Maryland Federation Convention to Ocean City. It will be held at the Ashore Resort. I understand there will be about 105 attendees from around the state in attendance. Some of us will attend the convention and some will volunteer to help at the Registration Desk throughout the two days. Our committee is putting together welcome bags for each delegate to the convention, which includes snacks and info about OC. RWWC oversees the Prayer Breakfast on Saturday morning, led by our chaplain, Jan Kolesky. Guest will be welcomed by both Sharon Carrick, MFRW President and me as President of the Host City Club. Attendees will be hearing some great speakers, voting on the new slate of officers and any amendment changes, while enjoying the camaraderie. Saturday evening, we are suggesting to conventioneers to go to Saltwater 75 for Happy Hour and Dinner. Tickets will be given for a complimentary libation to every delegate that chooses to go to Saltwater 75. Attendees of the convention may be interested in a book swap table that will be a part of the weekend. You can bring books to put on the table and swap them for other books that someone else has donated. I ask for your prayers for a successful Convention. Next month, I will report on the events of the convention.
Have a Great Month,
Jean Delcher
God bless each of you, and God bless the United States of America
